A Note from the Pastor – July 3

The Gospel highlights how Jesus’ words resonate with the little ones—children, women, and the poor—
who immediately understand him. Throughout the Bible, Go’s preference for the overlooked reflects a consistent logic of smallness, emphasizing that He invests in those whom the world disregards.

And Jesus is happy about it. Despite discouraging events: John the Baptist has been arrested, the religious and political leaders are hunting him down, and the villages around the lake, after the initial wave of enthusiasm, have turned away.

And yet, in that atmosphere of defeat, Jesus, instead of becoming depressed, is amazed, enchanted by God: a marvel. Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest: into his hands I lay down my weariness and catch my breath of courage.

Come to me… Jesus is my other wing, my own “Cyrenian,” who knows my loves, my struggles, and my dreams—the true teacher who imposes no further obligations, but gives me wings to fly.

Take my Gospel yoke upon yourselves, which is oxygen, which never wounds what lies at the heart of humans, never forbids what gives man joy and life.

And you will find rest, the warm current that flows beneath every page of the book of existence, fertilizing them, coloring them. And making them scent of the universe. God himself is not a concept, but the sweet and strong heart of life. Learn from me, from my way—gentle, without violence, and without arrogance.
