“Anyone who loves their family more than me is not worthy of me. But who can be worthy of you, Lord,
with such high standards? My family—father, mother, brother, daughter—are dear to me and essential for truly living.”
They inspire me to be true and authentic, motivating me to be my best self. We, even though feeling safe in our family circle, still need to be with the one we love; a man must leave his parents.
The Gospel, the cross, and Easter represent an eternal light that goes beyond family or stories of justice and peace. To move forward, we must let go of the past. Those who have faced loss will find renewal, as losing one’s life is like giving away a treasured
possession.
We truly possess only what we have given to others. Like the ones of Shunem in the first reading, who impulsively give the prophet Elisha small portions of life, small things: a bed, a table, a chair, a lamp, and in return, she will receive a whole life, a son, along with the courage for the future.
Freshness embodies the two extremes of a single movement—a living gesture. It should be the best you have: loving, beautiful, and resonating with the heart within.
Christ’s wonderful teaching, in which nothing is too small for those who love. Loving does not mean getting emotional or trembling for someone. You become in Christ, another verb, simple and active—requiring hands as clear and joyful as fresh water “to give.”
