A Note from the Pastor – Sept. 9

Thank you for your kind welcome extended to me on my first week as pastor. I am enjoying meeting all of you.

You will come to know me as one who enjoys sharing our faith in ways that connect scriptural tradition in a historical context with our journey towards God in our daily life.

Please enjoy what I have written below about the Good Shepherd icon and its meaning in history and in our current day.


The Good Shepherd Icon

The icon of the Good Shepherd is a masterpiece of the early Christian community spirituality; the image of the Good Shepherd is the most common of the symbolic representations of Christ found in Early Christian art in the Catacombs of Rome. But is the lamb on Jesus’ shoulders peaceful and “cute?” History tells a different story.
