A Note from the Pastor – June 6

The Holy Spirit, the mysterious heart of the world, the wind over the depths, the Love in all Love, is God at large; a wind that brings spring where it wills, that does not let the dust sleep, that blows over every old Jerusalem.

God in humble freedom, who bears no statistics, who in life and in the Bible never follows patterns. Free and liberating as the wind, the freest creator there could be, which at times is a gentle breeze, a hurricane that shakes the house, which is a voice of subtle silence, but also a burning fire locked within the bones of the prophet (Jer 20:9).

Pentecost is a transformative feast that we have yet to fully understand. The Spirit “will teach you all things,” guiding us to explore new possibilities. Instead of simply following orders, believers are encouraged to innovate and create new paths.

The Spirit, as the creator, seeks creative disciples in His image. Like an ever-present wind, the Holy Spirit fills every believer, providing them with the same presence as the shepherds. As stated, “the people of God, by the constant action of the Spirit, continually evangelize themselves” (Evangelii Gaudium, 139).

And from where you had stopped, God’s free and liberating Spirit will start you up again as He continues to do the same work in the Church that He did with the Gospel Writers. He continues to bring forth evangelists. Pentecost is about waking up and assuming your place in the church.
