As we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, we sing, “Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.” But we do not just mark an event that happened nearly two thousand years ago. We also call upon the Lord to send the Holy Spirit now and every day to breathe new life into all creation. As we celebrate this weekend, let us pray that the Spirit dwelling in us may impel us to renew our efforts to build the kingdom of God in our world.
