A Note from the Pastor – Sept 19

Jesus inspires us with another parable about a steward who, despite mismanaging wealth, takes decisive action upon learning his job is ending, securing a brighter future for himself.

The servant took a moment to reflect and asked himself, “What should I do?” This realization opened his eyes to the distinction between false wealth and true wealth, which opens the future and life. He chose to invest in cultivating genuine relationships, thereby creating real wealth through meaningful friendships.

He met the creditors and transformed his possible compensation into an opportunity for growth, all while building rapport with his master’s debtors. He understood where to invest sharing the debt to create income, the income of friendship, and spiritual growth.

The question arises: Are we preparing for our future in eternal dwellings? Jesus reminds us that eternal life and home focus not just on the end of life, but on our actions today. Let’s seize the moment to make life meaningful now—by experiencing the authentic human adventure.

Embrace this beautiful commandment: “make friends,” while not making it about money. People are worth more than money. Goodness prevails; it is not evil that diminishes your good deeds, but rather your goodness that transforms the evil you’ve faced.

Jesus uses everyday elements to inspire “making friends” as if building a dwelling. Alternatively, he might imply that the hands of those who love you lead to angels. Your friends will welcome you, embracing you with warmth and joy, whether for a day or a lifetime.
