Feast of St. Blaise – Blessing of the Throats

St. Blaise lived in the fourth century and is the patron saint of relief from throat ailments. The white candles symbolize purity. A red ribbon symbolizes the martyrdom of St. Blaise. The candles are held in an X-shape up to the throat of the person receiving the blessing.

Blessing of the throats will be at the 8:15am Mass at St. James on Friday, February 3.
