Today, Isaiah reveals his calling in the first reading, describing a magnificent scene with the Lord surrounded by angels. Because he feels unworthy, one of the angels touches his lips with an ember, purging his sin. When Saul and Simon are called by the Lord they too immediately become aware of their sinfulness. Here in the presence of the Lord, we realize our own sinfulness and limitations.
During this weekend of consecrated life, I invite you to call one of the monks, women religious, or hermits you know to support them in their endeavor. In our parish we have a special connection with Mother Antonia’s sisters (the Eudist Servants of the Eleventh Hour) and the Good Shepherd Sisters from Casa Eudes in Tijuana. For more information on consecrated life see this link.
Friday February 11th is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. There is no Mass at 8:15am that day, since there is a Mass of Anointing at 10am. Please invite or accompany those who are suffering. Fr George and I will be the ministers of the anointing. The next celebration will take place on Wednesday of Holy Week. (The school Mass this next week will be on Thursday.)
