Easter came to us through the eyes and faith of the women who had followed Jesus in a dawn full of surprises, rushing, and fears.
Mary of Magdala and Mary of James left home in darkness before dawn in haste. With the urgency of those who love, they wanted to go to the tomb empty-handed, to see, linger, and touch the stone as a sign of connection with Jesus, whose lifeless body was supposed to be there.
Little did they know the hate and jealousy that got Jesus crucified had failed miserably.
And behold, a great earthquake cracked the earth, and an angel came down from the open heaven; as if earth and heaven were giving birth, and the tombstone then rolled away.
They failed to understand that Jesus, the son of God, with the highest and purest love of all, was not dead, but contrary to logic, his life was the offering of love for the sins of the world, which wholly disarmed and defeated the devil; death didn’t have the last word.
In the words of Philippians 2: 8-11: Jesus humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name; at the name of Jesus, every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
