Fr. Michael Bormate is a priest from the Diocese of Borongan, Eastern Samar in the Philippines. He will be coming to St. James Parish to speak at the weekend Masses on July 27 & 28.
Fr. Bormate will tell the story of his brother priests – especially the elderly and the sick priests who have no proper place to stay in their retirement or period of recuperation.
The lack of a Home for Priests is a cause of great concern for his Bishop and for the aged and sickly priests. Fresh from the devastation of super Typhoon Haiyan, their province is still gradually rising from the ruins and their local material resources are barely enough to allow the construction of the said necessary facility. Surely, they need whatever help we can extend to them so that they can realize their goal of having a Home for Priests at a more conducive location.
