Please join us in congratulating Bob & Shirley Giese, this year’s recipients of the Matthew 25 Award, sponsored by Catholic Charities. Bob & Shirley have been tirelessly active in many of our outreach programs here at the Parish.
Bob is a former president of Mission Circle and continues his involvement to this day. He is largely responsible for bringing the very popular Food Packaging Event to Mission Circle, and has traveled to Tanzania with Shirley to see the results of our efforts first hand. Shirley, not to be outdone, has worked closely with Shoes to the World to make our shoe distribution drive each year a success. Recently, Shirley has spearheaded our parish response to Get on the Bus, a prison ministry to children with incarcerated parents. They both manifestly demonstrate the values Jesus calls out in the 25th chapter of Matthew’s gospel.
The Matthew 25 annual celebration has two missions – first, to recognize those within our parish faith communities who have dedicated their time, treasure, and talents to benefit the less fortunate among us; and secondly, to raise funds to support the mission of Catholic Charities locally.
You are invited to join the Gieses’ and others from our community at the awards dinner that will take place on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the University of San Diego. The event begins with Mass at Founder’s Chapel at 5:30, followed by a reception and dinner at 7:00 PM at the Hahn Center. The cost is $150/person.
To make reservations, please contact the office at 858-755-2545 by November 1st, 2018.
Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.
